The facts about educational cuts

Only 1 in 5 parents across the UK already know about schoolcuts.org.uk

We are therefore asking our parents/carers to help us publicise schoolcuts.org.uk via Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp, so that millions more parents can see the facts for themselves about educational cuts.

Please help make schoolcuts.org.uk go viral by sharing it now and tagging 10 parents, grandparents and teachers you know.

This movement for schools has always been driven by people like you/us. Parents, Heads, teachers and support staff, coming together to raise the alarm about the crisis.

We’re powerful in numbers. Together we can make sure parents are equipped with the facts.

Thank you for your support

Maintained Nursery Schools funding update

Maintained Nursery Schools (MNS) funding update

We are delighted that the Department of Education have again recognised the importance and value of Maintained Nursery Schools nationally, committing to continuing the supplementary funding they provide for us until summer 2021, by which time a full funding decision should be made. Nick Gibb wrote a ministerial statement “I can confirm today that supplementary funding for Maintained Nursery Schools (MNS) will continue, at its current rate, for the whole of the 2020-21 financial year. I can also confirm that the government remains committed to funding for MNS in the longer term; and that any reform to the way they are funded in future will be accompanied with funding protections.” October 2019

This funding recognises that Maintained Nursery Schools (MNS) are unique in their offer, structure and value, and supports us to be able to fulfil all of our school duties and requirements. Most importantly, allowing us to retain our educational provision with qualified Headteachers and Teachers with full QTS who have specialised in educating this age group leading the work in our schools.

We now have over 100 MPs working in an ‘all party parliamentary group’ (APPG) alongside the national group Early Education and the Nursery Headteachers, supporting the work on future funding for MNS. We are delighted that despite the uncertainty of the times that we continue to be recognised and valued for our excellence and vital contribution to early childhood education.

The new Chief Medical Officer Physical Activity Guidelines released September 2019

The new Chief Medical Officer Physical Activity Guidelines were released this week and the message couldn’t be any clearer. Moving more increases confidence, mood, health, opportunities, quality of sleep, improved behaviour. Whether a child or an adult, break up periods of inactivity and MOVE MORE!

‘If physical activity we’re a drug, we would refer to it as a miracle cure, due to the great many illnesses it can prevent and help treat’ (Lizzy Williams, Dance and Music Lead Teacher at Kenilworth Nursery School)
