Nursery Overview

Kenilworth Nursery School is a happy, warm, secure, caring school that aims to provide the highest quality early childhood education, care and support. The School’s ethos values the uniqueness of every child and has been inspired by the Reggio Emelia approach.

At Kenilworth Nursery School every service and environment is carefully planned to ensure children have amazing opportunities to discover and learn. We are committed to working in partnership with you as parents/carers in order to enhance your child’s learning and well being.

Every space is planned so there is room for adults to be beside children in their learning and engage with them. This allows learning to develop through a process of social co-construction. Every service is planned to ensure that communication and language experiences are maximised for children.

The qualified, enthusiastic and committed staff team provide education and care that makes a difference and provides a positive contribution to children’s learning and early development. Our teachers hold full QTS qualifications, and our non-teaching staff all hold level 3 qualifications as a minimum.

Our approach to learning through first hand experiences and purposeful play in a child centred environment, is based firmly upon years of research into how young children learn and continue to develop into lifelong learners. We actively seek to ‘build learning power’ by helping children develop effective learning characteristics.

Opportunities for learning are created both inside and outside. Inside environments include sensory and movement studios and artists atelier. Music, movement and dance experiences are offered each week by a trained Music Teacher responding to research on the relationship between cognitive development and movement. A rich outside environment includes a Forest School and a mud kitchen set in a very large outdoor environment. This space is designed to challenge physical development with space to run, climb and from apparatus.
